As the largest city in Europe, London entered a period of rapid urban growth in the 16th century. However, the Great London Fire of 1666 nearly destroyed the entire city, but also provided an opportunity to improve the city by following the functional requirements of a modern city. This event made London’s builders realize the importance of urban renewal, and London has since entered a state of dual construction and renewal. Through urban regeneration, the image of the original area of the city was completely changed, and the urban environment was improved, Londoners’ life was made more convenient, and the functions of the city were improved. After years of development, London, as a model of urban renewal, has become a model for urban renewal around the world in the four dimensions of modern urban planning, construction, renewal and development.
